Qualcomm subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies has introduced the Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 Long Term Evolution 4G modem, the first commercially announced gigabit class LTE chipset designed to deliver LTE Category 16 download speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
The new chipset supports 4x20 MHz downlink carrier aggregation across frequency divisiion duplex and time division duplex spectrum with 256-QAM, as well as 2x20 MHz uplink carrier aggregation plus 64-QAM for uplink speeds up to 150 Mbps.
