Juniper Research predicts that the total number of RCS-capable users will rise to 1.2 billion by the end of 2022, growing to 3.8 billion by 2026 and accounting for 40 percent of global mobile subscribers.
One does wonder how many of the messages sent using RCS in 2026 will be outbound marketing messages (application to consumer). Some of us would not be surprised if a majority of messages were A2C by 2026.
Indeed, the GSMA refers to RCS as a platform for “B2C marketing campaigns or the “suture of brand communications.
