Intelsat Opposes SpaceX Test License

The SpaceX application to test satellite communications to three U.S. ground stations is a prelude to launching a satellite constellation of perhaps 4,000 satellites to provide Internet access across the whole globe.

Perhaps predictably, the experimental license has drawn some opposition from Intelsat, which apparently has its own plans in that area.

Intelsat wrote a letter to the FCC asking that the agency block Musk's for an experimental license, on grounds that the SpaceX founder is being too secretive about his plans.

Musk's plan will face competition from the Richard Branson-backed OneWeb--and Intelsat.
