Singapore-based fiber operator MyRepublic has launched fixed network high speed access and video entertainment services in Indonesia in nine locations.
The company offers services at prices ranging from 199,000 rupiah ($15) for 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink, up to 899,000 rupiah for 300 Mbps downlink and 150 Mbps uplink.
MyRepublic advertises service in Cibubur, Depok, Bekasi, Surabaya, Tangerang, Semarang, Malang, Bogor and Palembang.
MyRepublic also launched services in New Zealand in October 2014 and it appears MyRepublic is looking at starting operations in Australia or Malaysia
MyRepublic CEO Malcolm Rodrigues has welcomed market deregulation--mentioning Malaysia--for example. He also has suggested his firm would gain something like 30 percent market share, in the event of market liberalization.
“Every time you have a deregulation event in the market, from opening up the long-distance market in the United States in the 1980s, to the local loop unbundling 15 years ago, also in the states, you can see 30 percent of the market leaving incumbents in virtually every country,’ said Rodrigues.
‘We want to offer 100 Mbps at between MYR60 and MYR70 (USD16 and USD19) a month,’ said Rodrigues.
