Cambodian ISP Replaces WiMAX with LTE

Cambodian Internet service provider Chuan Wei Ltd. will deploy Alcatel-Lucent Long Term Evolution and voice over LTE  technologies to support its existing enterprise business, as well as enabling the launch of new consumer services.

The deal is noteworthy in part because, like Globe Telecom in the Philippines, Chuan Wei is switching platforms from WiMAX to LTE.

The other potential is that the new LTE network could provide quality of service (speed and reliability) better than digital subscriber line, as has been the case in the Philippines.

Chuan Wei has been selling fixed wireless access, but apparently will add mobility services as well.
By some estimates, just five percent of Cambodians are connected to the Internet, with the majority accessing data on their mobile devices. But other estimates suggest 2015  mobile Internet access could be as high as 31 percent.
