More Bandwidth Over Twisted Pair and Coaxial Cable

Alcatel-Lucent lab trials have shown ability to deliver 56 Gbps for 35 meters, and 1.8 Gbps over 100 meters of copper wire.

BT expects to deploy G.fast technology (branded as XG.fast) operating at 300 Mbps to 500 Mbps to 10 million premises by 2020.

Separately, Calix demonstrated G.fast bonding technology delivering broadband speeds in excess of 1 Gbps over existing copper infrastructure up to approximately 250 meters at the Broadband World Forum.

Also, bandwidth boosts for coaxial cable distribution have been achieved by Marvell, for the G.hn
standards.
