The 5G fixed wireless access market is expected to grow from US$396 million in 2019 to US$46.4 billion by 2026, at a compound annual growth rate of 97.47 percent from 2019 to 2026, according to ReportLinker.
5G FWA services “will be a game changer in the telecom industry,” ReportLinker argues. Not everyone yet agrees with that assessment, but some use cases have obvious appeal. Fixed wireless might be a sustainable way to deliver broadband services using a fixed network platform where the cost of fiber to home facilities is uneconomical.
Fixed wireless services using 5G assets will be commercialized in 2019 in a few countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan. North America will see the highest growth through 2026, ReportLinker estimates.
