SingTel to Launch NB-IoT and CAT-M1 IoT Networks

Singtel will launch its nationwide mobile internet of things (IoT) network by the end of September 2017.

The network uses the CAT-M1 and NB-IoT platforms that run on 4G Long Term Evolution networks.

The IoT network will support devices with battery life of up to 10 years or more. A distinguishing feature of Singtel’s cellular IoT over CAT-M1 network is that it enables businesses to make VoLTE calls in future using small portable devices with long battery life, such as wearables and trackers with voice capability, SingTel notes.
