Facebook Launches Messenger Lite for Users in Bandwidth-Challenged Markets

One key adaptation application providers can make, when serving consumers in nations and markets with challenging bandwidth conditions is to create versions of their apps that can work even when bandwidth is an issue.

Facebook has done so by launching Messenger Lite, a stand-alone version of Messenger for Android.

Messenger Lite offers the core features of Messenger for markets with slower than average internet speeds and where basic Android smartphones are common.

Messenger Lite is starting to roll out to people in Kenya, Tunisia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Venezuela, and will be launched in additinal markets during 2016, Facebook says.
