Tiscali to Launch National Network Using LTE in Fixed Mode

In one more sign that mobile networks are going to be platforms for fixed access, Italian Internet service provider Tiscali will launch fixed wireless services based on 4G Long Term Evolution in the fourth quarter of 2016.

It is not a niche deployment. Tiscali plans to deploy nationwide, reaching  13 million households and businesses.

The Tiscali deployment comes after the firm acquired WiMAX operator Aria, which operates using in 3.5 GHz frequencies.

Tiscali will replace WiMAX wtih LTE.
