Santa Cruz, Calif. to Deploy Gigabit Network Using Millimeter Wave Radio

The city of Santa Cruz, Calif. Is about to deploy a gigabit network using millimeter wave radio for access, with construction time estimated at three months.

The project will use Siklu millimeter wave radios attached to existing optical fiber from Cruzio. Siklu says it has deployed millimeter wave wireless connectivity operating in the 60 GHz, 70 GHz and 80 GHz bands for commercial customers globally.

The deployment will provide a real-world test of the value of millimeter wave frequencies for community-wide fixed Internet access.
