New Visible MVNO Launches

A new mobile virtual network operator called Visible, apparently funded and owned by Verizon, now offers unlimited internet access with no throttling, as well as unlimited domestic voice and text messages.

The retail approach obviously is to appeal to a value-conscious Millennials customers, using a virtual approach that minimizes cost.

For starters, the service only supports Apple iPhones. There is no Android support. The rest of the activation and billing approach is designed to keep operating costs low. Customers supply their own unlocked iPhone.

And internet access speeds are limited to just 5 Mbps. https://www.bevisible.com/

New customers download an app to register, then are mailed a subscriber identification module. Payment uses PayPal, Venmo or credit/debit cards only.

The service requires an invite from someone who already has Visible.

The approach of creating a different brand, with a different value proposition from a main brand, is not new. Nor is the effort to create a brand appealing to one demographic, or the virtual activation approach.

On the other hand, the move is a move by Verizon to capture price-conscious customers without jeopardizing its “best network, highest quality” branding for the core Verizon brand.
