A few core concepts seem likely to emerge in the post-5G global network. We might assume that enterprise and consumer connections to the network will be untethered, using mobile, Wi-Gig, Wi-Fi or some other "unwired" connection.
We can assume those connections will be made both to centralized cloud data centers (voice, web apps, messaging, non-latency-dependent content) and edge data centers (for ultra-low latency apps).
We can assume connections are made over virtualized networks that often are federated (assembled from underlying networks) and built on virtual private network connections.
In that sense, it is impossible to separate network virtualization from cloud computing requirements from mobile and wireless access.
