SoftBank Collaborates with Huawei and ZTE on Pre-5G

Huawei and SoftBank Group Corp. are collaborating to conduct verification testing, technological evaluation, and research and development of TDD+, a 4.5G mobile communications technology based on LTE TDD on SoftBank networks.

Separately, SoftBank also signed research collaboration agreements with ZTE covering the development of “pre-5G ” technology.

SoftBank expects to work with ZTE to develop networking equipment based on ZTE's “Pre5G” technology, including massive MIMO base stations.

SoftBank took the lead in deploying TDD networks in Japan. SoftBank expects to increase frequency efficiency on the Huawei-provided “Advanced eXtended Global Platform” networks by about five times.
