Revenue models for precision agriculture (services using internet of things sensors, analytics apps and support services) remain in a state of some flux, one might argue.
In past years, IoT-based precision agriculture services mostly were billed by the hour, as most "professional services" tend to be rated. In some cases, services were provided on a flat-free annual contracts.
More recently, new billing methods, such as billing on a “per-acre” basis have become more important.

Perhaps in large part, issues about pricing arise because precision agriculture is an information service. It often is hard to determine what such information is worth, as applied concretely to any part of a business.
