Intel Explains 5G at a High Level

Intel argues--as do most other observers--that 5G is not just the latest generation of mobile air interfaces. You would expect 5G supporters to argue about the "platform" and "innovation" potential. But in the case of 5G, the standards are being designed to support a whole new class of applications and "users."

Where all prior generations of mobile networks were designed for human uses of "phones," 5G is the first mobile platform where the new use cases might largely come from sensor and server applications and "users," not people and phones.
