Brazil Mobile Subscriptions Drop 6.5% Since September 2015

Brazil's mobile-phone market saw a sequential decline in subscriptions in March 2016,  a fact virtually everyone would attribute to the impact of an economic recession.

Since September 2015, mobile subscriptions are lower by about 6.5 percent, according to Anatel data.

In the past, some observers have argued that services such as entertainment video, mobile and fixed voice service were “recession proof.” That is not the case for mobile services in Brazil.

The number of active mobile-phone users in Brazil dropped by 252,121 in March to a monthly total of 257.81 million, compared with 258.06 million in February, government agency Anatel said.
