Netflix Wants to Partner with Mobile Ops in South Korea; Should Do So in India

Netflix expansion to 130 countries illustrates the ways mobile operators can partner with the over the top video streaming provider. In South Korea, Netflix is in talks with Korea Telecom, LG Uplus and SK Telecom to use the mobile providers as distribution partners.

Reportedly, the deal Netflix wants is a revenue sharing agreement that gives the mobile partners 10 percent of profits. The mobile carriers want more, of course.

In the Indian market, some say Netflix will have to look at other payment gateways like mobile wallets or mobile operator deals.

Netflix’s current payment options, restricted to credit and debit cards, will not be appealing for many potential customers.

Both markets show how mobile operators can partner with OTT app providers.
