AT&T, Verizon Choose LPWA for IoT

It likely comes as no surprise that both AT&T and Verizon prefer low-power wide-area (LPWA) networking based on Long Term Evolution to support Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

It likely always is rational to extend and build on assets one already has deployed.

Working with Ericsson, AT&T and Verizon will develop LPWA solutions that leverage LTE to support lower power, lower cost and reduced complexity applications.

By leveraging its existing network infrastructure, Verizon potentially achieves a faster time to market for new IoT applications, as the network already is widely deployed.
