India Mobile Operators Call for Reallocation of 1.4 GHz to 1.5 GHz band for Mobile Use

The Cellular Operators Association (COAI) has asked the telecom ministry to release presently-licensed spectrum between 1.4 and 1.5 GHz (known as the L band) for mobile services.

The 1427 MHz to 1518 MHz band band currently is allocated for military use.

Spectrum reassignment at those frequencies would in line with broader moves expected by the International Telecommunications Union, expected to designate such frequencies as official mobile spectrum in November 2016.
