India Smartphone Sales Dip 4% in 4Q 2014

Fewer smartphones were shipped in India in the fourth quarter of 2014 for the first time ever, according to International Data Corporation.

IDC attributes the dip to high channel inventory at the beginning of the quarter.

Smartphone sales dipped four percent, quarter over quarter, but the feature phone market plummeted 14 percent.

Over device sales dropped 11 percent, quarter over quarter and five percent year over year.

Smartphones represented 35 percent of overall mobile device sales in the fourth quarter, up by 13 percent year over year.
