Fixed Wireless Dominates U.S. Home Broadband Additions in 1Q 2023

Though observers disagree about how long the trend can last, fixed wireless supplied by Verizon and T-Mobile is far and away the biggest market share gainer in the U.S. market in the first quarter of 2023, according to Leichtman Research Group.

While the top cable operators added 67,400 net new accounts, while the top fixed network telcos lost 21,000 accounts, the top fixed wireless providers added 916,000 net new accounts in the quarter.

Cable still holds about 68 percent of the installed base. But it is noteworthy that, for the first time, fixed wireless supplied over the mobile networks of Verizon and T-Mobile have reached more than four percent of the installed base.
